Laser & IPL
Spending time in the sun can be damaging and stressful for your skin, as it causes discoloration and wrinkles, and it also increases your risk of skin cancer. At Park Avenue Esthetics, we have the perfect solution to reduce those sun spots and restore your skin's natural health: Lumecca!
What are the benefits of Lumecca?
Lumecca uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. After use, clients notice significant improvements in the complexion and clarity of the skin. Using photo-thermolysis, Lumecca is able to provide a photofacial through the delivery of comfortable light treatment, removing the sun damage and restoring your skin's beauty. The IPL heats the dermis and pulls pigment (brown spots) to the surface of your skin, which then darkens and looks like fine coffee grounds. This pigment either absorbs into the body or flakes off in the days following the treatment, treating the sun damage and leaving you with the clear skin you deserve!
IPL treatments also stimulate the skin’s collagen, filling in space around your pores, reducing the appearance of enlarged pores.
The treatment requires zero downtime and is especially effective for improving the appearance of the face, neck, chest, and hands. Typically, clients need three to five treatments, but in only one to three treatments, Lumecca can significantly reduce the following impurities: age spots, sun damage vascular lesions (spider veins) rosacea (skin redness and bumpiness), and uneven skin tone.
How does Lumecca work?
Lumecca, like our other treatments, emits electromagnetic radiation, but at a wavelength of 500-600 nano meters (the visible light range). The light enters the skin and is absorbed by hyper pigmented regions, pulling the pigmentation up to the surface of the skin. The molecule that reacts with the various wave lengths of light is called a chromophore; it is responsible for the efficacy of Lumecca and gives the different pigments their color. When the chromophore absorbs the light and heats up, the color either reabsorbs into the body or flakes off, removing it from the skin over the course of a couple of weeks.
